Early 20th century Wood frame and glaze, painted black and gilt. Print pasted to a heavier card-stock, very light foxing and toning.

Currier formed the print-making company in 1835. The name was changed in 1857 to Currier and Ives with the addition of James Ives.
George Washington on horseback, accompanied by other gentlemen, is greeted by ladies bearing flowers as he rides over the bridge at Trenton. Banners bear the following inscriptions: "Battle of Trenton, December 26, 1776" "The Defender of the Mothers will be the Protector of the Daughters."
