The engraving has several tape repairs on the reverse, and toning. Small pinhole losses at the fold where it is attached to the tab for insertion into the book. A Good copy. Good. Item #36735
Published in 1783 as part of Edward Barnard's "New, Comprehensive and Complete History of England". Print shows four British warships landing troops and firing on Charlestown, a British battery on Copp's Hill in Boston also fires on Charlestown which is in flames, also shows the assault on "Bunker's Hill."
The image is considered one of the earliest obtainable views of the battle and is notable for its depiction of the British bombardment using red-hot cannonballs, which set the abandoned town ablaze.
