The Orleans Club at 5005 St. Charles Ave. The mansion dates to 1868 and reportedly was built as a wedding gift from Col. William Lewis Wynn to his daughter. It remained a private residence until 1925, when a group of women formed a social and cultural club and purchased the home as club headquarters. It remains home to the Orleans Club, whose name, by the way, is pronounced with a decidedly French accent.
