Elizabeth Fries Ellet (nee Lummis; 1818 -1877) was an American writer, historian and poet. She was the first writer to record the lives of women who contributed to the American Revolutionary War. Her most notable work was the 3 volume "The Women of the American Revolution".
Evenings at Woodlawn, a collection of German legends and traditions, contains important literary stories, such as The Vampyre, The Witch of Caprusche, The Visit of Saint Nicholas. Prometheus Unbound is quoted on the title page.
