A Good copy. 8vo., viii, (9)-312 pp., illustrated with an engraved frontispiece. Bound in grey cloth with a leather title label on the spine. Boards soiled, with edge wear, bumping, and a few tears along the joints. Damp-stain on the frontispiece. Frontispiece is a view of "Rolandseck and Frauenworth", which relates to a story at the rear of the book, and is in life and island and monastery in Chiemsee, Bavaria. Good. Item #30499

Thomas Atkinson (1801-1833) was a Scottish poet, author and bookseller. A Native of Glasgow, he ran a bookstore at 80 Trongate, called Atkinson and Co. Interestingly, Daniel Macmillan, future founder of the publishing House, Macmillan and Co., was for some time Atkinson's shopman.
Dedicated to Alexander, Duke of Hamilton, for his patronage of the Arts and devotion to the Liberties.
