HOTEL GRASMERE, PEMBROKE BERMUDA 1934.

Five page double sided letter from son to Mother, dated October 23, 1934 with five black and white photographs taken on the grounds of the Hotel Grasmere, also known as Hotel Grasmore By-The-Sea - a private residence with suites rented to wealthy visitors.   Letter is written on hotel stationary with Elmo Paxton, Jr. listed as manager.

Letter thanks his parents for the honeymoon trip with his new wife and begins by describing the couples trip to Princeton and an overnight stay at a family friends home complete with fire on the hearth and a private supper served by the butler.  The next morning they drove to New York and boarded a ship headed to Hamilton Harbor, Bermuda.  The son speaks of the luxury of the liner and their stateroom, especially the private bath and shower.  Dinner each night was an eight course event that finished at 10 pm, just in time for dancing on deck under the moon.  The description of their experience at the hotel is equally luxurious.  The photographs show the grounds of the hotel, the view out their window and the hotel beach.

Overall, a romantic glimpse of a moment in time that has long past.  The lengthly letter is written in very legible penmanship and the photos are crisp and clear.  . Very Good. Item #24814
