Bound in half red leather and pink cloth boards. t.e.g. Edge wear, moderate soiling and wear along the joints. Previous owner's name stamped in gilt on the front board. Spine a bit sun darkened. Laid in is a signed, typed letter from the author to the book's owner. Additional blue print of the Chicago River laid in. Item #24706

Previous owner is the North Carolina Congressman John Humphrey Small (1858-1946). Cahill's letter to Small implores him to investigate and stop the transfer of the West Fork to the Pennsylvania Rail Road, and includes a copy of his book and the blueprint of the "Old Docks Uncovered". Small was chairman of the House Waterways and Navigation committee.
