1st ed. Folio (13.75 inches). Beautiful presentation binding of full diced morocco with gilt titles and devices on spine and "Rear Admiral Charles Mitchell Thomas U. S. N." in cursive script in gilt on the front cover; silk moire end papers, all edges gilt. 303 pp, two very large folding color maps, photo plates and illustrations. Signed by the President of Peru, Jose Pardo, below his photo portrait. Near Fine, the contents are Fine, all tissue guards in place, the maps are Fine. there is a light stain on the front end papers (see photo) that does not affect the rest of the book. There is some light wear and small black splotches on the overs and spine, still a beautiful copy in Good slip case. ***Please note: international shipping will be expensive. *** At this time Admiral Thomas was commanding the Great White Fleet (Thomas was usually second in command behind Admiral Evans) on its world tour and this book was obviously presented to him when the fleet was in Peru.
