1st edition, appears to be a limited edition of which this is #664. Two volumes. String bound cloth with paper labels. Sm 8vo., (iv), approx 120 pp of text in Japanese and English with a map in the first volume, the second volume has approx. 45 color plates, one folding, and text in Japanese. The leaves are tanning but still supple so Very Good + in a Good folding boards case with string ties and paper title label. The spine and rear of the case is sunned. Laid in is a presentation slip from Cultural Minister Aso Minamiro, printed and with hand-written characters. A lovely production. *** Published in anticipation of the 100th anniversary of Perry's opening of Japan in 1854.
