1st edition, thus. A Very Good to Near Fine set, in Fine Binding. 12 volume set, complete. 4tos., each volume approximately 200 pages, with 20 engraved plates. Bound in period full red morocco, with elaborate border scroll work, compartment design, and edge and inner dentelles; the binding is signed "Bound by J. Mackenzie: Bookbinder to the King". a.e.g. Silk ribbon markers. The volumes are all rubbed along their joints, with very light edge wear elsewhere. Contents and plates are Fine. Spine color darkened to a burgundy, compared to the scarlet boards. Some volumes have a dark line on the boards, or additional joint rubbing. All volumes are Very Good or Near Fine, All with Fine contents, averaging to: A handsome set, Near Fine. *** Additional photographs available upon request.
