1st edition. 2 volume set, complete. A Very Good set. 8vo., [Vol.1] xix, 310; [Vol.2] 303 pp. Bound in quarter brown cloth and floral patterned cloth over boards. Light edge wear to the boards. Volume 1 has a vertical crease tear on its spine; all spine lettering fading. Matching handsome bookplates on each volume's front paste down. Date in red printed on the front end paper of volume 1. Not as bad as it sounds, still a Very Good set. *** English poet and novelist Mortimer Collins (1827-76) wrote these volumes soon after his second marriage, and during the time where he never left his house. Published posthumously, it is arranged in season, from Spring 1869 till his death in Summer 1876. *** From the 1911 Encyclopedia Britannica - "Some of his lyrics, in their light grace, their sparkling wit, their airy philosophy, are equal to anything of their kind in modern English."
