Marr would become a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1893, and in 1895 a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts. Perhaps best known for his large canvas The Flagellants, painted in 1889, now on permanent exhibition at the Museum of Wisconsin Art.***.
