1st edition. An original, Hand-colored aquatint. Image size:11 1/2 x 7 3/4"; frame: 17 3/4 x 17 7/8". A Very Good print in Very Good frame. The hand colored print is lightly toned; in a early 20th century frame (by Arthur Ackermann & Son, Chicago, label on the reverse.) Gold painted wooden 20th century frame, with glaze. The print is matted, with light soiling visible. *** This fishing print was part of the series The National Sports of Great Britain, (1821), folio with 50 color plates that also included depictions of hawking, hunting, equestrian sports and other sporting subjects. Thomas McLean (1788-1875) owned a printing firm publishing a range of works during the mid 19th century, especially sporting, humor, satire and political caricatures, as separately issued prints and in periodicals such as the Monthly Sheet of Caricatures.***.
