(ca. 1575) Hand colored, double page, copper engraved map.. One sheet. Image: 19" x11", in frame 22 3/4" x 17 ". A Good copy. Some toning to the margins. Two bird's-eye views of Pozzuoli (Puteoli) above and Baia (Baiae) below. They show both cities as located on the Gulf of Naples. The numerous ships around Pozzuoli reference its history as an important port, while in the view of Baia, the remains of an ancient Roman thermal bath can be seen. The whole of the Gulf of Naples can be seen between the two views. *** From The Civitates Orbis Terrarum (Atlas of Cities of the World) by Hogenberg, 6 volumes published from 1572-1617.
