Original, hand-colored lithograph. A Very Good to Near Fine print. Small folio; mage size: 8" x 12 1/2". Very light age-toning to the paper. Framed in early 20th century wood frame with glaze. On the reverse of the frame is an Arthur Ackermann & Sons label, designating this as coming from their Chicago gallery, with the title listed as "The Express Train" by Currier and Ives. *** In 1988, the American Historical Print Collectors Society (AHPCS), asked its members to rank the Currier and Ives' Small, and Large folio prints to reflect the changing tastes of Americans, since they were first ranked in 1938. THE EXPRESS TRAIN ranked 21 in the small category. ***.
